Not at all, the COPR is proof of permanent residency in Canada. You don't actually need a PR to work in Canada.

Oh, really? So you are saying one can get a job (by showing the copy of COPR) even before landing?

no, i believe what the person means you don't need a PR CARD to start working. you can't start working until you land as a pr, otherwise that would be working illegally. in canada, all that's needed to start a job is as SIN#. there is no need to provide them with any photo id or proof of status. A COPR can be used in pretty much any situation a pr card would be needed. it can be used to get a SIN#, provincial healthcare, etc.

Congratulations. Just curious... Now that you got the card, what can you do today that you couldn't do when you didn't have the card in your possession? Is it more of "peace of mind" thing?

Well, at least I know I don't need to bother travel document and can leave anytime I want.

I have received my PR card in 3 weeks of arrival but i have not received my wife's PR card since 5 months. what are my options here ?
