Nikkah, Two Receptions, No Rukhsati

Hi Guys.

I'm engaged to my first cousin. Our nikkah+reception is going to be held on 9th August Inshallah but rukhsati won't happen. Then on 12th August we are going to hold another reception in my hometown. We cannot perform rukhsati and walima right now due to some family problems. We are also going to hold a small mehndi function for family before nikkah.

We are planning to do rukhsati after one year or when I go to Canada, whichever comes first.

I've known her since my childhood and after getting engaged in February (it was just a formality, my cousin didn't come but my aunt did and we had a small gathering of family and friends and exchanged gifts) we have started or relationship. She hasn't visited Pakistan in 4 5 years, so we have no pics together for quite some time. But I have 6 7 months worth of whatsapp chat, call and fb messenger history.

My question is what should be our next course of action? Should we apply straightaway or should we wait until we have finalized the rukhsati ceremony tentative date?

Wait to apply after Rukhsati. As you haven't met her in 4/5 yrs, it will create a negative impression in visa officers mind. lately a few nikkah only cases from pakistan have been approved but they had a lot of proof of continued relationship from a lot for yrs. In your case, it is better to apply after rukhsati. You can explain the situation and maybe try to pre-pone your Rukhsati, gather all proofs, and then apply.
