I just received an email from the Canadian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa that my Confirmation of Permanent Residency and visa is ready to be issued. I am currenlty residing in outside of Canada with my Canadian fiancé and we applied under the family sponsership class. I have the following questions:
1) The email from the Canadian Embassy in Pretoria asks that I post my and all family members traveling with me to Canada passports to Pretoria for the issuance of the visas. It is just me and my Canadian fiancé on the application as my sponser. Do we have to post both my and my fiance's pasport to Pretoria?
2) Once I receive my passport back from Pretoria, can I travel to Canada on my currently valid vistor's visa without becoming a landed immigrant? I have a prescheduled trip coming up and I dont want to activate my permanent reidency at that stage. I still have time until September 2013 when my medical expires. We are planning on traveling to Canada together in June and want to activate the residency then. Is this possible?
3) At what point does the 5 year period start, when I first arrive in Canada as a landed immigrant or when the PR card is issued? This is imporant for us since we can not move to Canada right away.
Your help is appreciated,
Thanks
