New work permit - implied status

Hi,

I will apply for a new open work permit. I am not sure if I should apply only for a new open work permit or for a temporary visa as well? Because my old work permit will expiry soon so I want to benefit from implied status. Somewhere I read that you will get automatically temporary visa when you apply for extension of your work permit. But I want to be sure what to choose in application IMM 5710E

Here is the info you are looking for in CIC website:

If you are in Canada and need to extend your Work Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa only after CIC has approved the extension of your Work Permit.

Meaning you don't automatically get visa, but you can only apply after your receive your work permit extension. Here is the link:
