New study permit required ?

Hello,
I am planning to start a one-year certificate program in January 2020 in BC and I will be done with my current certificate program by the end of December 2019 from Alberta.
Do I need to apply for a new study permit or just update my DLI in my current study permit?
If I need to update it when shall I do so, i.e. before or after I complete my current course?

When does your permit expire? You need to renew it before it expires, else you just need to update your DLI.

It expires in July 2020.
When shall I update the DLI, my current course ends in December 2019
