it will impact them more if a LMO is required. I would think getting a positive LMO would be difficult if there are so many unemployed people.

Dear Members,
Will this affect to people coming on Work permit Visa as well???

Thanks,

OK,I called my contact at CIC and here is the thought,They want to try and keep Immigration at constant levels But change the mix,There are still critical shortages of Nurses,Skilled trades etc, these are fine,What will be tightened up will be Cleaning staff,Fast food workers and the other semi-skilled professions.Expect more and more LMO denials for TFW s in this fields

That is absolutely not fair for applicants who have been waiting for along long time, and then they simply will be turned away. There should be some better options for both immigrants in queue and for Canada's post - recession period.

Why? Are there immigrants who applied under FSW who are food servers or semi skilled? BCguy is talking about those who applied for temporary working entries, period.

I agree with BCGuy and read this article as well;

I hope this recession is not deeper and finishes in a year or so. The economic stimulus package they about to pass in the US will not be enough to jump start this economy so there will be more to come, I hope that picks up the stock as well as labor market. Thanks to Previous President's failed policies that brought us into this recession.

john5655, when are you going to submit your application?

don't wait for the door to close before you can apply.

The door is not being shut, the type of Immigrant mix is being possibly changed Same Number but different mix

canada may not close the door, butthe process will revert back to the previous timetable.

whats you're opinion BCguy? I'm applying under noc 4131, where's the best place to settle for me, vancouver, calgary or toronto?

thanks.

my suggestion would be for people who have jobs not to move to a new country this year. let things settle down in a year and then move.

every one has high expectations when they move and it will unlikely be met in these times.
canada has pretty high unemployment similar to US (7.2%, 7.5% in US) and I can see the condition in US

hi.

which category of immigration will be most affected..........

FSW/ PNP/ family sponsorship, entrepreneur.............any idea??????????

I guess we can do nothing except wait for the end of next month........when the meeting will be held.

Thank you ss123. I was actually planning to withdraw my SFSW application and apply according to the new rules, as I am on the Ministerial List NOC and could have applied via the FSW1. But I have changed my mind and will just leave it like that.
"A BIRD IN HAND IS WORTH.............". We both have jobs here and I think with the present Global Economic situation and downturn no where is and seems to be "GREENER" than others if you don't have a job or a prospect to secure a job. I am fully aware of the fact that sometimes you need luck, work your way up and of course time to hit that "Dream Job" and that life is a risk, but when u have dependents then you have to think twice.
Your statement is fully justified. I think ppl should sit back and analyze their circumstances before they take actions.
