new passport with different family name while my ctzship app is in process

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if you guys can tell me if I should expect problems with my application because of the following :
I have applied for a new passport as my current one is expiring soon ..
The new passport has a totally new family name (my grand grand grand father's name) that was not appearing in any of my Canadian papers (i.e. landing papers, PR card ,, etc)..

My Citizenship app is in process and it was filed last year .. Will that be considered as a problem when I "hopefully soon" get into the interview with the Officer before the test ??

Was it a legal name change? if no, what was the reason for changing the name?
If you have changed your name, call cic call centre and provide the details to them. Talk to them to see what they suggest.
