New Applicant - advice on open work permit application.

Hi there and thank you in advance for your time.

I am on the IEC program and have been with my partner (living together) over a year now.

She is going to sponsor me and we will meticulously go through the paper work. My questions are regarding the application of an open work permit for while I wait for PR.

My IEC Visa expires on May 24th this year.

I have looked at the Change of status application form and require a few clarifications:


When we send off the Sponsorship Application can i send the Open work permit application at the same time or do I have to wait for Stage 1 Approval?

When answering the question: I am applying for one or more of the following: on IMM5710E

What am I answering?

Restoration as your status as a worker or An initial work permit or work permit with a new employer

Send them together.

You do not need to restore your status, if you currently have status in Canada. 'An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer' is the option you should pick.
