Nest step after application submitted? AOR from CIC?

What is the next step after the application has been submitted, will CIC acknowledge receipt of a complete application or is it just a waiting game until you get called for your knowledge test (or have your application returned)? How long does it usually take to get called for the knowledge test?

Acknowledgement of receipt. Means they have received your application, application number assigned and they will start processing it soon.
