Hi,

i am a permanent resident since 3 years. A friend of mine from back home has been constantly pushing me to send him an invitation letter so he can apply for a visitor visa.

I was wondering if there could be any negative repercussions if I send him one.

I may some day want to send invitation letter to my relatives or people that I would genuinely like to visit me. I don’t want to face any problems later. I hope they won’t flag me for sending too many invitations.

I’ll appreciate any help. Thank you.

Then don’t do it . Simple as that .
Just say No

Btw, a real friend wouldn’t push you into doing something you aren’t comfortable doing
Your letter means very little in the scheme of things . They gotta prove they are a genuine visitor
Job, travel history, ties to their country , finances

Why is invitation letter in the first place? If he / she chooses the option to visit Canada as a tourist they are not asked for an invite letter. They may be choosing the option to visit Canada to meet a friend. Just change the option and problem is solved.

If they do not only visit and apply for asylum for example there can be concerns about subsequent invitations. Unless you know that your friend only intends on visiting for the period that they have declared on the invitation I wouldn’t suggest inviting them
