Need to change employer on work visa

Hello,
This is Gaurav. Presently i am in India & have work visa valid for one of the mining equipment manufacturer in Canada. My offer is still valid with present employer but he mentioned that due to slowing down in industry there might be job cut in future. Could you guys please let me know procedure to change employer Canada if person is on work visa? One more question, can i join some college for pursuing my doctorate if i am on work visa in Canada?

If you want to change employers, your new employer will have to provide you with a new LMO - and then you will have to apply for a new work visa.

No - you are not allowed to study on a work permit. If you wish to study, you will have to apply for a study visa. Note that once you are approved for a study visa, this will automatically cancel any work visa you hold.
