Hi,
I'm currently on an IEC visa due to expire at the end of August. My common-law partner and I (he is a Canadian citizen) have put in an application for an open work permit and also an inland family sponsorship visa application.
My question is, if I haven't heard back from either of these by the time my current visa expires, do I have to leave the country while it is being processed?
Obviously I wouldn't be able to work while it's expired but can I stay as a visitor without putting in a visitor visa application?

Any info would be great, I've been trolling the internet for hours looking for an answer. :)

Hi

If you haven't received your OWP by then, you will have valid Implied Status as a visitor while waiting for the OWP, so you don't need to leave.

Post your future queries in the Family Class Sponsorship section of the forum.

You will have to change your status to visitor.

OP has valid status and has applied for the OWP with inland app. They do not need to apply to change their status to visitor.

1. But will have to stop work when the IEC expires, until the SOWP is received.
