Hi. I am still somewhat confused about the process. We will be applying outland for my wife since we currently both live in the US. We are not 100% sure where we will buy a house but it will be either Quebec or Ontario and close to Montreal. It will depend entirely on what we are able to find on the housing market after we get approval to immigrate, which I assume is about 12 months.

Lets says we apply for Quebec, get approved and but then find a home in Ontario .... what are the implications if we move there instead? I still find the process a bit confusing when applying outland. Can someone please provide some advice for my scenario?

Thanks
Steve

It would be easier to apply outland stating Ontario as your likely target place of residence. Once you get approval, you can always change your mind and live in Quebec easily enough (AIUI).

I applied outland to live near Ottawa - if you live east of Ottawa, you are on the ON / QC border anyway and close to Montreal.

Some light reading about outland spousal sponsorship here:

If we change our mind, is there anything we would need to do at that point in terms of paper work etc especially since quebec has there own separate process?

You need to make your mind up at the point of applying where you plan to live. Basically Quebec or the rest of Canada and I suggest stick with it until the CoPR is issued and you land and declare PR. Once you have landed and declared PR, you can live where you like (including Quebec) - certainly that is my understanding as there was an outside chance I too might have wanted to live in Quebec (but as it turns out we have definitely decided on the south of Ottawa).

If we were to specify Ontario but immediately after settle in Quebec, would there be any issues since Quebec has it's own immigration process? That's where my confusion is. Since we don't yet know, which path is advisable .... Quebec or Ontario immigration? What are the consequences if we change our minds depending on location of final home purchase?

Thanks

To add more details ..... if the plans were as follows:

1) Land in Ontario after approval
2) Go back to the US to settle our affairs.
3) Finalize purchase of a home in Ontario or Quebec
4) Arrange to move belongings to Ontario or Quebec

Would it be better to file our papers with the intent to move to Quebec or not?
