My mom passed away last week, she was 87.

My dad is alone now in India and would like to come to Canada and stay with me for the rest of his remaining life. He is 85. What are my options?

I am the only son and have a sister, married and settled with her family in India. I am in Canada since 1998.

No idea what to do, any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry for your loss.
Applying for supervisa for your father is your best option. Currently the parent sponsorship is closed and will reopen on Jan 2nd 2016. For the last two years only 5000 applications were accepted and so you will need to prepare your application and submit swiftly when the programme reopens.

With the supervisa your father can stay upto 2 years but you will need to purchase medical insurance which only covers medical emergencies and can be costly.

Here is the link for all information regarding supervisa. It can take 6-8 weeks as a medical is required for this visa.
