Hello guys,

I am Ahmed from Pakistan. I have been admitted in University of Alberta for masters program. University of Alberta has waived my IELTS requirement due to my previous undergraduate education in English medium institution. So I have got the admission in UAlberta without IELTS. But I also do have the IELTS score (6 band) as given below:

Listening: 6
Writing: 6.5
Reading: 5.5
Speaking: 6

Overall band score: 6

I know its low according to visa requirement. So I am in big dilemma whether to send my IELTS score or not when applying for the student visa.

Please guys, experts I need your sincere advice.

Thanks.

In my opinion it wont create any problem. you have got into very good university of Canada automatically ur visa chances are enhanced. u just need to write a strong sop in which u can mention that I have been exempted from IELTS as my institute is there in UoA IELTS exemption list. but do send ur ielts score to embassy thats all.(ielts is included in visa documentits an hidden requirement)

1. This is an average score. Neither good nor bad. You can send it if you want. Be clear on this that IELTS is recommended to be sent for visa but it is not a requirement for Pakistani students.

2. If you are applying for Fall 2012, you better hurry up.

3. Which course and degree are you going to attend in UofA.

Yes, I want to send my IELTS score to embassy but I am too much afraid because of average score they might reject my visa. What do you say should I still send it?

yes ,u should send ur ielts with visa application ,bcs
Beside ielts there are various other ways to determine language abilities such as past education in english, now as u have been chosen bcs of past education u met the uni requirement and chc requirement so IELTS will be compliment to ur file.

hi ,
just follow the checklist, there is no recommended or non recommended checklist.
i came to Canada without ielts ,coz uni waived my ielts ,and i had 8.5 in ielts but i did not send to embassy coz they did not ask for it .
so why would i do something that i have not been asked to???
you have to understand how people here think ,not how we perceive .
good luck

Thank you so much dear Sheryar for your positive response.

Okay I am sending my IELTS score and I also do have the English language proficiency certificate from my undergraduate institution stating that this institution is an English medium institution etc etc. I will also send this document to strengthen my case as I also sent this document to university of Alberta.

Hi!
The problem is that there are 2 checklists. One available on cic website and one on vfs. The vfs checklist is much more elaborate one and asks for many things not mentioned on official cic checklist including IELTS score. I gave a TOEFL ibt score and scored a 110/120. My institute accepts toefl scores. Now what do I do. Should I attach TOEFL scores, or attach none. I don't have time to appear for an IeLTS and wait for the result. I'm applying for this fall semester..

i think for pakistani students there is inly one checklist
