Hello everyone!

I got my permanent residency through the Saskatchewan PNP somewhere in September 2012 (got my PR Card with start date as September 2012). Till somewhere end of June 2013 I was in Saskatchewan. And then in the beginning of July 2013, I left for India as I needed to get my gallbladder surgery done and also some family issues (my parents health) back in India. I arrived in India somewhere in July 2013 and got my surgery done.

Since then, I developed some complications like severe digestion problems, IBS, FibroMyalgia etc along with chronic depression. And also due to the health conditions of my parents I needed to be with them to provide some assistance here in India. I did saw some doctors here in India, and took some medications prescribed by them, but I also followed alternative therapies on my own like ayurveda/yoga which improved my health to the extent that now I am in a position to get back on my feet and work.

Now I am thinking of going back to Canada soon. It should be somewhere in next year I guess (2016). So my question is that as per the PR obligations, one is required to spend at least 2 out of 5 years in Canada to maintain his/her PR. Which means that my 3 year window (of being out of Canada) would close on 2016 July. Meaning that I have to be in Canada before that??

Now what if my plans get delayed a bit (depending on my situation back home in India). Will it create complications/deportations/refusals at the port of entry? If officer interviews me, how can I explain him/her my situation related to my as well as my parents health?

And also, since my PR is Saskatchewan PNP based, is it compulsory that I return back to Saskatchewan or I can return and stay in any province after entering Canada?

I have put lots and lots of hard work in getting this PR. I sacrificed my health, career and money. Now i really don't want to loose it.

Would love to have your inputs on this.

You can live anywhere with your PR however, because you have a perculiar case now,I will advise you stick with Saskatoon now until you get your PR renewed first that is if you manage to get in without being reported by CBSA.I will advice that you make attempt to return immediately then wait until you've fulfilled residence requirement before renewing your PR.

You should not wait until the last minute to return.

You need 730 days in each 5 year period in Canada. The first 5 years is counted from the day you "landed" as a PR, NOT from the date on your PR card, so your 3 year window would probably be up before the date you've calculated.

Do NOT delay. Unless you were so sick you were physically unable to come back to Canada (and have proof of that), it's unlikely that your illness would be considered a valid reason for not meeting residency requirements.
