I am am American who lived in China. I am back home and seeking sponsorship to live in Canada. I need to obtain a "Police Clearance" to submit my application. I went to the Chinese Consulate in NYC to get this. I told them with the help of a translator I need to get a Police Clearance Certificate. Is there another word the Chinese use for this particular documentation? I felt that culturally they did not understand exactly what I need. Other cultures and language system can use different words and phraseology to express similar ideas. I was told that they do not provide that service at the Consulate. They also said I'd have to go to China to get this done. Is there another way, without going to China to get this done? I need to get this done, in order to proceed with my Sponsorship application. Is there anyone out there able to help me with this information? Thanks very much for your help.
