I am going to Canada next month for higher studies. As I do not have sufficient points now, I intend to apply for my PR only next year after either getting points for my graduation or an employment there. Will a Police clearance certificate issued in India now be considered next year? I heard PCC is only valid for 6 months, but as I would be leaving India in a month and would continue to stay in Canada until I apply for PR, will this case be considered?

No, your Indian PCC will not be valid, you will have to obtain a new one from the Indian Consulate in Canada.

Hi PMM,

Thanks for a prompt reply.

I heard we can file for the PR even if we do not have sufficient points at that time. Later on when our file is returned for updating the records, that time we can give proof of employment which can fulfill the points criteria. Is that true?

Please read the application, you must qualify at the time you submit the application. When the application receives Initial Assessment, they don't ask for additional documents if you don't qualify, CHC refuses. End of story, end of application, don't apply unless you qualify, you are wasting time and money.
