Hello Team,

I am looking for expert guidance for applying the Canadian PR under Canadian Experience Class. Below are my doubt

1> I am married guy(married on 7th July 2014), I want to apply for PR for myself and I will be applying PR for my spouse later.
The reason for applying the PR for my spouse later is because my wife is not having passport as of now, she is applying for passport. I will apply for her
PR later once she gets the passport.
Please let me know is there any issue ,If I want to apply mine PR first and my wife later?

2> When I am filling the PR related forms, it is asking my married status, I filled as married. It also asked about dependent status, I filled my wife as dependent.
My doubt is here If am mentioning her as my dependent and not filling her PR ,then is it acceptable? Do I need to mention anywhere about this?
If I want to apply only for myself now and my wife later.

3> In my condition what should I fill under "Program Under which you are applying" in the form "IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf" ,is it family" or Economic"?

4> Do I need to fill Dependents area in IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf form(General Application Form for Canada) or Should I click on Remove dependent ,
as I will be applying for spouse PR later.

6> In one of the form, it asked for the reason why the dependent is not accompanying. Please suggest what can be filled there.

7> Apart from the PR form, please suggest what all proof and documents required for filing PR?

8> Please let me know if there additional points need to be taken care.

I will be really thankful If you can provide me this information.

Thanks

-- Why would you want to delay your wife's inclusion. If not applied along with yours, you have to apply for her under Family Sponsorship class and that takes very long time for her to get PR. Better apply for her passport in tatkal which won't take more than 3 weeks including obtaining of PCC and then apply for PR together.

2> When I am filling the PR related forms, it is asking my married status, I filled as married. It also asked about dependent status, I filled my wife as dependent.

--It is acceptable, I think you will need to select her record in the form as not accompanying you to Canada. May be there is one more form where you will be asked for reason. If there is no option to mention the reason then leave it as is and mark your wife's record as not accompanying to canada.

3> In my condition what should I fill under "Program Under which you are applying" in the form "IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf" ,is it family" or Economic"?
--Economic

-- As said in the instructions on the form you have to provide details of all dependents even when they are not accompanying you to Canada. You have a check box later to select appropriate option.

6> In one of the form, it asked for the reason why the dependent is not accompanying. Please suggest what can be filled there.
-- Whatever reason you have ;)

7> Apart from the PR form, please suggest what all proof and documents required for filing PR?
-- List of all required documents are provided in the Application checklist. Provide everything as suggested there. Try avoid unnecessary additional documents which are not asked for.

8> Please let me know if there additional points need to be taken care.

I will be really thankful If you can provide me this information.

It's not possible to sponsor the wife later through Family Sponsorship if she isn't included in the CEC application. If she's not included in the CEC application entirely (i.e. not listed, no passport provided, no medical) then she will no longer be classified as a family member and can NEVER be sponsored. Also, it's misrepresentation to completely exclude a spouse from a PR application. If CIC discovers the misrepresentation, the CEC application will be refused and PR can be later revoked for lying in the application.

There is only one option. A passport needs to be obtained for the wife and she needs to be included in the CEC application. Again, this is the ONLY option. The wife can be flagged as "non accompanying" (meaning that she will not receive a visa but be sponsored later). However even if she's non-accompanying, you still need to provide a passport, have her to a medical, and she will need to provide PCCs. So you have no choice but to wait until your wife's passport is available before you apply.

Hi

Agreed, delaying the application until the wife receives the passport is the best and cleanest option. If the passport process is only a few weeks then I would see no reason to rush the application through and then be presented with issues later.

Thx

This is not true in case of CEC. You can add spouse on your file any time as long as your case is not finalized
There are many folks who have added spouse at a later date.
Even in my PPR email it states if you are married or intend to get maried please let us know know

So in summary - Best is to wait for her passport and then apply
Else - Make sure you fill all your spouse details, have marriage certificate attached and also acknowledgement of having submitted the passport application. You cannot make your wife application valid until she has a passport.

But having said that - it will all be at VO discretion finally to let your file through and ask for additional documents or return without an AOR.

This applies if you aren't yet married. If you're already married (as in the case of the OP), your spouse needs to be listed in the initial application and a copy of their passport included.

This is because they got married after they applied, and their status changed during processing. It would be misrepresentation to not include a spouse on the the application.

Get the passport, then apply.

If you are applying under the CEC program, it is in the Economic Class.
