1. How long it takes for background verification?
2. how will we get to know the update?
3. Both spouse and sponsors background verification will be done?
4. when and who's eligibility check will be done for spouse family class PR?

You usually get an email from them when there is an update. You may wanna link your application to your gckey

Rest of your questions is all depends. Noone can give you a definite answer. Background usually takes the longest from what I have seen so far.
