Hello all.
I've been reading this forum for few days and some of my questions have been answered, but I still have some unclear things.

Little bit background information: me and my husband want to move to Canada. We're currently living in Finland. As he's Canadian citizen, our plan is that he will sponsor me, so that I will get my permanent residency relatively fast. (So application would be outland.)We hope that he can find a job near Toronto, where one of my relatives is offering us a place to stay. Later we would like to move to Montreal, his home city.

My question is: I have an apartment here in Finland. I'd like to keep it, until I have my residency permit. But as I'm not currently working, that might prove financially impossible. How would the immigration office see me, if I sell my apartment after sending the application, but before getting the PR?
I know that I can visit Canada and extend my visitation if needed (no visa needed for Finnish citizens when coming to Canada).

And also, can I apply for open work permit during my visitation? How long it takes to get that?

I have all the forms needed, but I still haven't filled anything. Obviously my husband needs to find a job first, before we start the process.

Leon's post provides links to processing times.

As a visitor you cannot usually work.
Outland but in Canada - therefore you would be a visitor - you cannot work until you have landed as a PR (and collected a SIN number).
Inland - see inland / outland section para 2 in Leon's post.

" If you do get the first stage approval, your spouse will usually be eligible for health care and an open work permit. It is actually a good idea when applying inland to send an application form for a visit visa extension as well as the open work permit to be given at first stage approval all in one package so it's tied together."
