Hi All,
I'm currently working as a senior credit risk analyst at a bank. As I work at the credit department for large corporate clients, I'm having trouble validating my NOC Code. As per the NOC 2011, the NOC code closest to my profession is 6235 (1232 - NOC 2006). I can say that I peform about 4 of the 10 duties outlined in 6235. Most of the duties are not applicable to me as they are performed mostly at a branch level not at the corporate level.

Question is - is it safe for me to choose this occupation code when I apply for CEC?

Much appreciate your advise.
Thanks!

Only thing you can do is applying in NOC where job duties matches with NOC..It is common that some of Job duties doesnot match. Every company is different.
Also CEC has new rules where they will enquire about job duties (if they r in doubt) from applicant before making the decision..Rule is effective from 9th Nov but we still need to see how it works.

Agreed! The thing to remember is that your duties should be in line with NOC published duties AND main statement. They dont need to match 100 percent....thats actually negative. We've seen VOs question the copy/paste method and request additional reviews.

@ gladaki

Cant wait to see what they do with this new rule...or how they judge my application with this. Ought to be interesting!

Your application? Your application, according to the timeline on your profile, has been received before Nov-9th, and will therefore
be assessed under the old rules.

And 1112 doesn't fit?
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=1&val1=1112&val11=risk%20analyst&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Nope it doesn't fit. The closest is 6235, closest title is Credit Analyst. As I look into monitoring credit extended to customers I think that this is the closest to my current occupation. It doesn't match a 100% because I work for the corporate credit and not credit for retail customers. If one works at the retail level and manages credit for retail customers, then their duties will match most of the duties outlined in the NOC 6235 (NOC 2006 -1232). Even when I checked with NOC, a while back, they had suggested NOC 2006 -1232. Just wanted to double check ....
Thanks All.
