Today I got a phone call from the embassy and asked me to resend my proof of funds as there was a change in my family meembers after my new born daughter. The problem is that I changed my bank account one week ago and closed my old account. does any one know if the embassy needs a bank statement for the last 6 months or just a certificate from the bank that I own the amount they asked for?
as for the statment it will be only one week old

In my view they will almost certainly ask for statements, since they need to convince themselves this is your own money and has not been borrowed.

But this is fairly simple. Just get 6 months statements from the closed account, but plus a statement for the new account. Then they should clearly be able to see the amount being transferred before the 2 accounts.

Best of luck,
Wayne.

Then I would provide them with the statements from the old account, along with the receipts of the stocks you sold, which should show where the money came from.

IMO they are unlikely to accept this 1 week old account on face value, since for all they know you could have just applied for a loan and put it in the bank. But I don't think you'll have any problem if you simply provide all the information, including the receipts.

Best of luck,
Wayne.
