Hi,

I am planning a trip to Canada in January to see my boyfriend (he's doing a year abroad) and I am having some troubles understanding the CBSA.

I already applied and got my ETA but from what I've seen online, when you're in the plane, you need to fil up a declaration with a question asking how many days you're staying. However, the ETA can be available up to 6 months but I won't be sure to be able to stay that much until I see a border control agent at the aiport so I can't just book my flight just yet.

Does anyone know what should I do ? Or anyone had been through this before ?

Your question isn't entirely clear.

How long do you want to visit your boyfriend exactly? You should have a return flight when you arrive in Canada.

Well, basically, I would like to stay until around the end of May/beginning of June. But my fear is that when I get to the border control, the agent doesn't let me stay that long.
(Sorry if it wasn't clear, I'm just a bit panicked by this right now ahah)

You’ll need a return ticket and most likely CBSA will want to see proof you will be able to support yourself for 6 months. You will also have to alleviate their concerns you are going to overstay. Remember 6 months is the maximum they can let you stay, there is no minimum and it’s entirely their discretion.
