Hello everyone,

As the new changes to Express entry on November 19, 2016 regarding adding extra points from 15 - 30 for post-graduated education in Canada, I updated my EE profile but I'm still unable to get extra 15 points for 2 years diploma in Canada. However, I graduated 3 years ago. Does anyone know if the points only reward to people who graduated within 3 years??? :(

Thanks.

No that's not the case, what were your answers to the new questions?

Hi DelPiero07,

My answers are:

1. Start date: September 2011 – May 2013
2. Complete/ full academic years: 2
3. Full-time/ part-time study: Full time
4. Standing at the end of study period: diploma awarded
5. Country of study: Canada
6. Level of education: 2-year program at a college
7. Were you awarded a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate for this period of study? Yes
8. Was this degree: (answered No)
• from a public post-secondary school, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec)
• from a private post-secondary school that operates under the same rules as public schools
• a diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) earned through a qualifying study program of at least 900 hours from a private school in Quebec, or
• a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from a Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law. (The student must have been enrolled in a study program that led to a degree as set out by the province.)

9. Was more than half the study program English or French as a second language courses? No

10. Did you study in Canada based on an award that required them to go back to their home country to apply their knowledge and skills? This includes some awards from Global Affairs Canada. (Answered: No)

Answer for 8 is "yes"

You'll get your points within 24 hrs.

Thanks DelPiero07, between I studied in a public school in Toronto, Ontario and it's only diploma. I thought answer "Yes" only if it's in Quebec?

Of course not, otherwise only students from Quebec would be getting points for Canadian education.

"from a public post-secondary school, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec)"

The only part that applies exclusively to Quebec is "CEGEP"

If you studied in a post-secondary public school in Canada the answer is "yes"
