Hi all,
i wasnt able to find the tread about ordering relevant documents so i created a new thread.
In my case, i have ordered 1 through FOIA website. Its been 10 days and the page still show no progress. but i remember some people here said it took them couple days to receive the report. Could anyone help? Many thanks.

My spouse (a U.S. citizen) requested a record of entries and it took 31 days to receive by e-mail. You won't see any action until on or around the 30-day mark. However, I have read on here that getting a record of I-94 entries is faster.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Did u mix up with cbsa report which is required for 30 day processing. I'm ordering from USA custom agency for my record entering the states.

Check the link.

Nope, didn't mix it up. A FOIA request from U.S. Customs and Border Protection takes 30 days to receive. If you wanted a record of I-94 entries, you could have requested it here: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

Well, when you get the FOIA report (in about 20 days), look and see if the entry is there. The U.S. border guards are so strict that I can't imagine them missing an entry.

Lucky you. It's been five months and they haven't so much as replied to my request.

You made a FOIA request for entries into the U.S. and you haven't received a reply in 5 months? When you look online at your account, what does it say? The normal turnaround time is 1 month.

I have no account. This request was not done online.

If you applied by mail, I can only guess that the letter was lost. The government is required by law to answer within a timeframe of about a month, or send you a letter explaining why that timeframe can't be met. Try again online. That way you can track the progress. https://foiaonline.regulations.gov/foia/action/public/request/publicPreCreate

The letter was not lost. I sent it certified mail, and I have a copy of the signature card they filled out when it was delivered.

http://www.foia.gov/faq.html#howlong: "In some circumstances the agency will be able to respond to the request within the standard time limit established by the FOIA, which is twenty working days, or approximately one month...When an agency needs an extension of time to respond to your request the component will notify you in writing..."

If you did not receive a letter telling you there would be a delay, your request has been lost somewhere. You could spend time working with the CBP FOIA liaison to locate your request, or you could make an online request that will be completed in a month. I would choose the latter.

Well, I usually ask for my records once a year, anyway. (I tried four times last year and got no response.) If CIC demands that I produce the records, at least I have proof that I already requested them.
