Hi every one

My name is Abubaker from Libya. Due to the chaos and war in Libya, I would like to explore my chances of migrating to Canada. My oldest daughter is a Canadian Citizen by birth she is 24 Y.O lives with me studying in her last year at university (English major) she obtained her Canadian passport in 1991 and never renewed. The family is composed of me, my wife and 6 children. We all speak good English except the youngest two. My son is in his final year for a university degree in banking and finance, the other daughter have a high school diploma, the other daughter is in 1st high school year, the other boy is in grade 6 and the youngest daughter is autistic (9 Y.O).

I would like to know what are my best chances of getting migrated to Canada.

Any help appreciated.

thank you
Abubaker

If you wish to apply to immigrate now, your only option is to qualify on your own (without help from your Canadian citizen daughter) through a program such as the skilled worker program, skilled trades program or one of the provincial nominee programs. You can read about these programs here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

Note that you will only be able to include the children in your application who are younger than 19 years. Your children who are 19 years or older will have to apply on their own since they are not classified as dependents for immigration purposes.

Your daughter cannot sponsor you for PR at this time. In order to sponsor you, your daughter would have to return to Canada to live full time first. She would also have to get a job in Canada where she is being paid enough money to meet the low income cut off requirement to sponsor you, and she would also have to work in this job for three years before qualifying as a sponsor. So if she is still in university, not in Canada, and not working - she is at least four years away from qualifying to sponsor you.

As scylla said, first explore the possibility if you can immigrate on your own in skilled worker category or any other category suitable for you. Study this forum to get more ideas. Check these also:
1) Send your Canadian citizen daughter back to Canada to settle there first, try to earn good money.
2) If you are financially solvent, send others one by one on student visa and after completion of Canadian degree, they might be able to apply for PR/Work Permit with job offers.

Dear scylla and Hasan9999, thank you for your response, I will check the options you have mentioned.

thank you again
