Hi all,

I have few questions regarding application for study permit in Canada. I would appreciate if someone could help me out complete my application process.

- Schedule 1 ─ Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside of Canada(IMM 5257 ─ Schedule 1) -- I have seen this form on many topic discussion as well as on CIC.GC.CA. my question is that who is required to fill out this form? As far my knowledge, there are three forms that needs to be submitted:
  • Application For Study Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM 1294)
  • Family Information (IMM 5645)
  • Document Checklist (IMM 5483)
Please mention if I am wrong here.

- In the form IMM1294E - Application Form for Study Permit made outside of Canada, there is a section for Details of Intended study in Canada . Field 4 asks for "The cost of my studies will be". Do I have to mention the total fees, semester fees or annual fees?

- In the same form there is a question "My expenses in Canada will be paid by:". In actual, my expenses in Canada will be paid by my parents and brother. Do I mention both of them in "other" section or just one sponsor?

1. If you are from NON-exempt visa country you need both- TRV and SP.
2. Total. Excluding any tuition you have already paid (if you have paid)
3. If that section allows you to use both options - parents and brother, then use both. If it allows you only one option, I WOULD use Other and explain more in SOP.

Thanks Regina for your response.

If I mention the total cost of my studies, do I have to mention the total amount as proof of funds? I have seen it on cic.gc.ca that you need to show one year study fees + 10,000 for living expenses.

Can you share the link where you have seen it mentioned that 1 year tuition fees and 1 yr living expense?

Sure. Here you go:

Eliminate all the spaces.

Students from developed countries who are both visa exempt and from socio-economic backgrounds similar to Canada might only be required to state their available funds.

Conversely, in some very high-risk environments, requiring and systematically verifying substantial history of funds and supplementary individual or family financial and employment documentation may be necessary to ensure that only genuine students capable of supporting their program of studies are accorded study permits.

Officers may take into consideration such sources of funds derived through scholarships, fellowships, assistantships and the like, as well as financial support or support in kind that may be available from relatives in Canada.
Foreign students in Canada are ineligible for benefits under the Canada Student Loan program.
