Hi,

I received passport request yesterday for my PR in Canada and they have requested my passport with two photograph with 60 days. In the letter it also states that if I intend to get married prior to my PR please CPP-Ottawa.

Now my question is that, I am getting married in December but I can certainly go to india in July and get court marriage done and get the official document to add my wife to the existing application so that both our PR comes at the same time and we can fly back in December after marriage.

I need assistance on what would be the best route I should go to bring my wife along with me.

You will probably have to land before Dec. You can do that if you want, but just know that your PR application will take longer. If you don't get married until Dec and land before Dec, you can sponsor your wife after Dec.

Thanks for you assistance. Would you by any chance know that If i add my wife to my existing application; how long will it take for us to get PR? The reason I am asking is because I will have to go to india in November end to get married in December and if it takes longer for them to process then I cannot travel without passport.

I am confused?

It depends on how long your COPR will be. Because your office is ND, you have several more months before you get PR as they ask for your passport VERY early (Like the first month) in the process. If you get COPR after you get married, LEGALLY you MUST tell CIC that you got married. I can't say for 100% certainty how long it will be after that, but up to 6 months I would say.

Ok great, thanks for the advice. I guess the best option for me right now is to get my PR first and then once I am married in Dec; I can apply my spouse PR as a sponsor.

Yes, that would be the best course. But if you get married BEFORE you land as a PR, you MUST tell CIC.

Just a question - how are you getting PR?
