Need help! Regarding work visa

Hey all, I'm an Aussie with a question concerning my Canadian working visa.

It reads on the confirmation form that I need to activate the working visa (Seek entry into Canada) by the 16th of August 2017. Problem is that I can't see myself being able to achieve this due to unforeseen circumstances.

I'm curious as to whether I can prolong the activation period to a time more suitable for me to visit? and if that isn't possible, what would be the consequences?

Would the working visa lapse therefore not allowing me to use it? Would I just have to resubmit another application and perhaps have to pay the fee again? Or would I no longer be able to apply for one again? I've contacted numerous sources and still haven't got anything close to an answer.

Any help on the topic would be hugely appreciated!

1) You can't extend the date. It's use it or lose it. If you don't arrive and trigger the visa by August 16th, it will automatically expire and can no longer be used.
2) This visa counts as one participation in the program whether you use it or not. If you want to apply again, you can only do so under the Co-Op stream which has very specific requirements.

Thanks a bunch Scylla! Although not what I was hoping to hear, guess i'll have to try book a quick trip over from now til then.
Another question you may be able to answer is if I were to enter the country for just a week or 2 say, with intentions just as a holiday and not to work, will they still let me activate it?

Yes - you can absolutely come for a short visit to activate the visa. You can then return later to work for whatever period is still remaining on the work permit. This is your best option.
