My friend who is Canadian, has been in Peru for over a year and met her boyfriend there, who is from Peru. They have lived together for a year and she now wants to
Come home but also bring him. Is this possible? Would they be considered common law? What papers would he need? Any advice would be appreciated.

If they have lived together for a year continuously, then yes they will be classified as common law. They will need proof to show the 1 year of cohabitation. Things like a joint lease, joint utility bills, joint bank statements.

He will also need to get a TRV (tourist visa). Does he have that yet?

Not yet

He needs to start with the TRV. That will take a number of months and there's no guarantee of approval.

Suggest he dedicate time to reading through the discussions in this section of the forum to understand how to put together the strongest application he can.
