Hello Friends,

I am a May 2010 FSW1 applicant and landed in April 2013. I recently got my full driving license (G - Ontario). Our wonderful community has helped me a lot, so it is my time to return some favor. So, if you need any help, kindly let me know.

Hi,

I would recommend you to start practicing the G1 test by reading the book and practicing online tests(all the links are posted in my earlier post). For my G1 test these helped me a lot.

You can take G1 test on a very same day you land. All you have to do is to go to nearest test center and register your self. To find out about nearest center in your preferred/local area, please go to -http://www.drivetest.ca/EN/bookatest/Pages/LocationFinder.aspx

Once you have cleared your G1 test, you will get your temporary G1 license immediately and can appear for G2 test at anytime since you have the experience letter from your current country(Providing the test center has to accept your experience). It takes 3-6 weeks to get the photo license at your mailing address. For driving license, it is not recommended to use any other address than your living address(Canadian) for mainly Insurance reason and specially if you are going to drive while you are here. Also, you can not drive on your own if you are carrying the G1 license, a person with the full license (G) with having 4+ years of experience has to accompany you while you are driving.

For G2 exit test (G) license, it takes little bit of time as you need to book your exam in advance and it is strongly advisable to take few lessons from registered MTO instructor even though you have left hand driving experience.

By looking at your scenario, I would recommend you to wait until you are here permanently.
