Hello, everyone. We are currently in the process of preparing our application forms for spousal sponsorship. Regarding the question #13 in IMM 0008:
Should I write down my married name now? or should it still be my maiden name? We just got married in June of this year, and I have not updated my records with the Immigration (and anywhere else) at this time, since our marriage certificate is not issued to us yet. I plan of requesting for the name change at the same time when I send our sponsorship application.
Another question for the same form, Q#14: My husband was previously married, but it was declared by the court that the said marriage was Null and Void due to the fact that the girl was legally married to another man during the time she entered marriage #2. What kind of a relationship that they had then? Married? or just a common-law? (because legally, they were not married). We will be attaching the documents provided by the court that their marriage got nullified.
Thank you all. Any input will be greatly appreciated :). God bless!

If you have not made any changes in your name yet, then why not do the change after you have arrived in Canada?

Your Marriage Certificate should show your name as it was before you got married anyway, right? most importantly you have to provide copy of traveling documents which will show your previous name. I am not sure, changing name when you are in the process of applying is a good idea.

Also, for the 2nd question, I would tell the truth and provide all documents.

Thanks, Goodman, for the reply. Sorry I was not very clear about my info on my post. I am the one who is sponsoring my husband, and I am currently in Canada.

Well, since you are in Canada anyway, you don't have to change anything now. It is your Husband whose identity and relationship with you are the main concern. I am assuming it is your name that you want to change, I do not think changing your last name will be a concrete proof that you are genuinely married.
