a week after i landed in canada, my girlfriend told me that she's 1mo. pregnant. will there be a problem in sponsoring her after i mary her next year? Im so confused right now, please advice..

No, what would be the problem?

thank you for your reply and i'm so happy to know that.

but

Am I not misrepresenting myself?
when the i go back to mary her (which our child is already born at that time)? some said i already misrepresented myself because she's already pregnant when I landed here and im in deep trouble sponsoring them :o :o :o

my flight is dated 18 and she's supposed to have her period at 15 of the same month, is there any misrepresentation in this? I really want them to be with me here in Canada.

comments plsss, thank you.

I believe that this is not misrepresentation as the child is not born... If the child would of been born before the date you landed and immigration wouldnt of been aware then that would be misrepresentation... but from my understanding you will be able to sponsor them

I hope this helps and maybe some senior members can give there imput

I don't think CIC actually counts an unborn child as a dependent. As long as you land before the birth of the child, then I cannot see any problems.

When you marry your girlfriend and start sponsorship, the marriage and birth will be after you are given your PR, so all will be perfectly legal. There is no misrepresentation as far as I can see, unless there is something else you are not telling us.

Besides, rejessome said there is no problem and she knows what she is talking about, as she is a highly respected immigration consultant on this forum.

thank you so much sir/madam on your inputs, i really ap
preciate it :-* :-* :-*. that's the only thing that bothers me. now i feel more comfortable :)

one more thing is it ok if i let my kid allow my surname upon his/her birth? well, i dont know if the hospital will allow them to use it without my signature on his/her birth certificate. btw, i'm from Philippines.

thank you again in advance.

God Bless you all!!!

The only potential for misrepresntation here is if your girlfriend was your common-law spouse (lived together for 12 consecutive months) prior to your landing as a PR in Canada.

Not reporting pregnancy is not misrep because being pregnant does not guarantee that a child will be born. Sadly, some pregnancies end and no child is born.

Your question about the surname of the child is one for Philippines law, not Canadian law, as the child will be born in the Philippines.

thank you rjessome for answering my queries and to you all, no we don't live together its just that we spend more time together on my last month :)
now can i put my mind at ease.. :)

Thanks again. ;) ;) ;)
