Hello Everyone,

I am an international student, I had submit my spouse sponsorship inland application in June 2014. After getting my PR, if somehow me and my wife had to get separated, so does it impact of my PR? I mean my wife is a sponsor and does she can cancel my PR after getting PR?

Please guide me, Appreciated for your response

Thank you

how long were you married when you applied for PR and do you have children together? if it's less than 2 years and you don't have children together as of the day the application was received by CIC, then most likely you will have "condition 51" which requires you cohabitate for 2 years after approval. plus, don't forget your wife is signing up to be financially responsible for you for 3 years after approval. so yeah, if your relationship breaksdown, she has every right to report it to CIC. What CIC chooses to do with that information and your PR status is up to them.

I usually don't go digging, but based on the OP's previous posts he will have Condition 51 on his PR. No she doesn't cancel your PR just like that, but she can certainly report you as being separated and then CIC revokes it.

Thank you rhcohen2014 and trustsmile

@ rhcohen2014 I got married in Sept 2013 and I applied for PR in June 2014, at that time we havn't had baby, after applying PR we had a baby, as you mentioned in condition 51 we have cohabitate for two year after approval? lets say if i stay two year then?

and I am pretty sure my wife will report the cic after break down, so it's up to cic of my PR status right?

Please reply

have you landed as a PR? if so, then if your relationship has already broken down, you would be in violation of condition 51.

yes, if you are currently a pr it is up to CIC as to what they will do about your status once your wife reports the breakdown. if you haven't even been approved yet, then your wife has every right to cancel the application.
