Hi All,

I landed in Toronto in July 2011 and worked for Rogers for 2 months. At present i am in India and have received my T4 from Rogers. Can anyone please advise how to file for Tax as i am in India at present. If you can refer me to an accountant, i am fine with that as well.

Thanks & Regards
Sanjeev

It depends, were you a Canadian resident for 2011? Have a read of http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/nnrsdnts/ndvdls/nnrs-eng.html for the residency requirements.

If you were a Canadian resident, you will be filing a Canadian Tax return. You will declare this T4 income (and your world income, including Indian) on your Canadian tax return.

If you were a non-resident, then you should be declaring the income on your T4 on your Indian tax return as foreign income. You will likely be able to claim foreign tax credits, as Rogers should have withheld tax from you which you can get credits for on your Indian taxable income.

I've sent you a PM and perhaps I can help a little.

Whether you file really depends on a number of factors.
