Need advice regarding PGWP...two part-time terms due to defense

Hi, I'm an industrial-based 3rd year Master student in CS. My last two terms would be part-time because I have already done all the lecture courses last term, and only have one project and its defense left.

Therefore I only choose the project this term - this makes me in a part-time status. However, I will do the defense in May or June during the summer session, in that case, my last two semesters are part-time.

The department said they can provide the explanation letter to prove my last two part-time terms are necessary in my case to finish my project (although it's because of the slow progress in the project).

CIC agent said I could apply for PGWP but they are not 100% sure, it depends on the officer.

In this case, should I apply online with an explanation letter or flagpole? which one is better?
Also, should I call CIC to double check again that I'm eligible to PGWP?

For the thesis part of your masters followed by a defence is not really considered part-time. You can include an explanation but this is common for the last semester of a thesis based masters. You are likely working harder than a full-time schedule

Thank you for your reply!! makes me not that nervous now XD But mine is more like project-based with defense, not the thesis based......hopefully, they still can understand this situation haha.......
