Hello Seniors,

I am from India and got my VISA after 6 years (expiry July-10). I would be traveling with my family (Wife & 2 kids (age-16,12)). I am in IT field and currently having good job in India.

Looking at the current job market in canada, some of the people suggested that I can travel to Canada for short duration; apply for PR card and come back to india. I believe one has to stay 2 years in 5 years for PR to remain valid.

I am planning to visit for 2-3 weeks in canada in the month of May-Jun and then return to india. I will go back to Canada after few months / year (may be), atleast I do not want to expire my Visa today.

Can someone guide me on this please?

You answered the question already.I want to believe your family will be settling down while you will be going back and forth. It is better to keep your PR status than lose it after waiting for six years.Think through with your family and take a decision,am not saying quit your job but secure your PR.

Seniors ,pls contribute and correct me where wrong.

Looking at the job market? What is the guarantee that the Canadian job market will "improve" few months or after a year? The longer the you wait the harder it is for you. In that one year many people will come for IT jobs. People are immigrating to Canada and will take up those jobs. There are IT jobs here. It takes a little time, say 2-6 months, but you will get a job. This is a competitive world. If you wait, you lose. Simple.

But, even if you think you should come back to India and wait then you can go there, do the initial landing and come back. No problems in that.
