Hello there!
I am a French guy and I am currently living in Canada as a visitor, with my wife who is a Canadian citizen. We've been living together since August 2019 and we're married since April 2020. I have a visitor record which allows me to stay in Canada until July 2021. We also submitted a spousal sponsorship application for PR in June, with an Open Work Permit application, but we haven't received the AOR yet. Also, as a French nurse, I submitted my application to the NNAS to get my French diploma recognized, but that takes ages. But, eventually, I will be able to work as a caregiver.
I would like to go back to France for a few weeks to visit a close family member who is hospitalized (not related to Covid-19). Whereas I am pretty sure I can pass the French border, I am afraid to be refused entry on my way back to Canada. As far as I know, this would cancel my Visitor Record, my Inland Sponsorship Application, and I would be physically separated from my wife for an indefinite period of time. To avoid that, we thought of bringing some proofs of our status and relationship, like the copy of the Tenancy agreements with our two names, a copy of our marriage certificate, a copy of her passport of birth certificate, a copy of a letter stating that I'm an authorized user on her VISA bank account... I could just re-print the whole sponsorship application, but I think it would be too many pages to read for the border agent.
So what do you guys think about it? Should I provide any other document? What are my chances to be refused entry? Has anyone tried to do something similar recently?
