I am currently living and working in upstate New York and engaged to someone in Montreal. I am seeking advice and guidance on how to be able to live and work in Montreal. Any help is appreciated, seeing as I am super lost. Any help is appreciated.

Here's some more information on myself, that may or may not be helpful. I have been in school persuing my sculpture degree for 3.5 years, and know welding, I'm just thinking about getting my certification (here takes 2 months) because I believe it would give me a better chance of landing a job.

Once you are married, your spouse can sponsor you for PR but it will take a few months. You can be visiting Canada during that time but if you want to work sooner, you'd need to qualify for your own work permit. If you get a job offer and an LMO (labour market opinion), you would be able to apply for a work permit. Being a certified welder would definitely help.

I appreciate your help, and I do travel back and forth to Montreal quite often, I'm only an hour drive away, so traveling is not a big deal.
