Hi !! I am permanent resident and my PR card is going to be expire n March 2017 but I would qualify for citizenship application in December .Do I still have to apply for PR card ?

Question about my name -- So there is no surname on my Indian passport but on my COPR there is no given name its mean its opposite to my passport name. So I have been following my name as it is on my COPR ..but now i m applying for renewal and it is asking me for surname and given name. confused if I should still follow my name as it is on my COPR and old permanent resident card ( my complete name written as my surname ). Dont want to get my application stuck in process for my renewal and citizenship because my name..

Ideally you should renew your PR card because if you go outside Canada then you need the PR card to reenter Canada. You can still apply for citizenship even if the PR card has expired.

I am pretty much aware about the name situation. So, you are applying for your pr card renewal, correct?
In the "family name (surname)" mention your whole name, just like your COPR and leave the given name blank.

Example your Indian passport has given name: Ashish Kumar, Surname is blank. In COPR, given name is blank and surname is "Ashish Kumar" and on your PR card, your surname is "Ashish Kumar" then in your pr renewal application, under the "family name(surname)" write: "Ashish Kumar" and leave the given name blank.

Thanks a lot

I did the same thing and mailed my application today.

Should I do the same thing for my citizenship application .. write only surname ( first name and last name ) and leave blank my given name ?
