Hello

My brother had a gap in his studies so agent showed one year computer course to cover his gap for his study visa. Now he has received the invitation for PR and we are confused if we should show his computer course in his study now or not as he is not claiming any points for that course because it was just a certificate course.

Thank you

You should provide the same history for pr application which was mentioned while applying for study visa. If you change it, the VO can raise questions about it and it can be one of the main reason of refusing the application because of misrepresentation.

Thank you for your reply. We are confused how should we fill that course like if we put under education history so what options shoud we choose. He has just a certificate for that computer course no transcripts no degree nothing. Certificate mentions 640 hours. Is that a full time course or part time?

Under education section you only select the education level that applies, and you can fill in the gap period claiming no points under personal history, also explain that a certificate has been obtained during a gap period with no intention to claim points for it in an LOE and attach the attendance certificate.

Careful not to hide it at all it is important

Thank you so much for your reply. Just to confirm as he has completed his senior secondary in India and now he is claiming points for his Canadian diploma and experience. So we should just mention only his canadian study under education and the course he had done to cover his gap should mention only in personal history. Right ??

How's it possible to provide an attendance certificate when the computer diploma is a cover up? : /

It is only because applicant has mentioned this in a previous Visa application.
Its a 12 month course, those 12 months are a gap that splited the applicant's study.
If he hadn't mentioned it first place it would have been insignificant.

In addition personal history table doesn't affect education section those are not technically correlated , its only about declaring facts during personal history.

But the background checks include what we declare in personal history. I am trying to be 100% precise in the application so after living in a country for 10 years that I am not being deported for a silly misrepresentation that I made when I came to any country for a study or a resident status which is 10 years ago. This is about life, and i think everyone is trying to settle down and lead a peaceful life. we all know how crucially life turns onto us for a silly mistake we did in the past.

Well i am not aware of or interested in what the facts were that time but the inquiry was in summary as follows:
I have been aproved for a student visa, that i mentioned one full year certificate in its application? Now do i include this fact in my pr application?

I understand its like a training course and not a degree

What do you suggest ? Do the guy overlook mentioning it or include it in a PR application?

Another question: when we created his express profile under education we have just mentioned his Canadian study. And he got an invitation based upon his Canadian study and experience plus ielts score But as I mentioned earlier during his study visa agent added computer course under his education.
So now we are worried bcz we haven’t mentioned in express entry profile and if we mention now in education after invitation would it be considered as misrepresentation?

Or it's better to prepare a convincing LOE explaining about the course is just a holiday / vacation course which is not leading to a diploma certificate.

I understand its like a training course and not a degree -YES as an applicant I am not claiming points but I covered my gap with a training course I never did and to add I mentioned it while applying for the student visa and now I am applying for PR which is considered with higher significance than is given for a student permit. I hope @Bacelor you understand what I meant here. Assume we are the PR applicant and we did this and consider the situation knowing what IRCC will be doing about the file.

We all wish all applicants be successful in this venture and everything goes smooth.

If the one year course mentioned had been put on the student permit file with details of the awarding institution and if the institution has an online presence there could be "chances" of a background check. it's a 50/50 game. we either survive or we get caught. but let's hope for the best.

An individual's file will be maintained from the date that individual's records reached IRCC. When applying for citizenship everything right from the start could be checked. It's their discretion.

The background check is done before landing and IRCC still continues to check on the individual.
one of the VIP members quoted- "Even though CSIS is a professional agency that is tasked with the security screening of prospective immigrants, it does not stop its activities there. Even after an applicant is granted PR status, CSIS continues to monitor his activities, as another security screening is done when the PR applies for citizenship. CSIS, from the time someone applies to enter Canada until long after they have citizenship is involved in surveilling, gathering information, creating files, developing profiles, writing and passing on secret reports. There have been frequent complaints about general harassment, and also about the specific behaviour of CSIS. CSIS agents have been known to show up at an individual’s door late at night. As SIRC reports indicate, CSIS agents regularly fail to inform the individual of their right to have an attorney present. "

do you assume that the applicant did not take the course ?

It should be ok, as long as it has no significance on CRS.
