NB! Visa expiry and return ticket don't match. Help please!

I have been issued a student visa to study in Toronto until 30 July 2013. My flight, however, which was booked before, only return on 30 August 2013. Will I have difficulty entering Canada with this ticket or do I need to change the return date before I leave? I hope to extend my student visa once I arrive in Canada.

1. No return ticket is required for the issuance/renewal of study permit. It's irrelevant.

So I should be able to enter Canada with no issues? Because a guy at the Canadian immigration service told me that i would only be allowed at the border control agent's discretion, while another operator said that it should not be an issue at all, I should just tell the border agent that I am planning to extend my visa ....
