name problem

Hello
I am new in Canada as a student. I have name errors in my passport. Would this create a problem ahead (like in work permit or PR)? Should I correct this? How can I change name in study permit? How long will this take?

Is this a spelling mistake or surname given name problem???.. I think if no spelling mistake then its ok...... Because my passport given name family name while on application its shown 1st name middle name last name.... so i don't think so it matters!!! u get ur study permit and you are there..... study permit issue on ths beasis of ur passport so if it works for ur study permit it will work for ur pr also!!

I had the same issue in my old PP but i got it re-issued within 3 days ...

Given name - Mayank Kumar
Surname- Blank

I wanted "Kumar" as my Surname so I made the adjustments

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Yes my family name is blank in passport and it is Singh in my study permit. Are you suddesting I make changes in my Indian passport from Canada? How can I do that?

If you are already in Canada then what is the problem buddy

I have confirmed from VFS Mumbai and they told me that in such cases they put the entire Given Name in Surname also

i.e. In Visa Application form they will put

Given name: Mayank Kumar
Surname: Mayank Kumar

but even though I changed it. You can contact Indian Embassy there..

Thanks for replying. I was applying for work permit and my Name is appearing as:
Client name : Null Parminder Singh
This means my first name is Null and my surname is Parminder Singh.
Should it be of concern?

I think Null here is pointing to your Last name as you don't have Last name in the Passport and the same you would have mentioned in your Work permit application because in CN they usually address as last Name, First Name
