Hy,

I'm planning to apply for skilled worker immigration program with my common law partner. I have all the requirements needed, and much more points than 67. But there is one thing that maybe could be a problem for us... My common law partner is planning to change his name (both, forename and surname) and we were wondering could that become, in any kind of way, a problem for us? We're coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is mostly a muslim country, and you should consider that too!

Thnx

i do't think that is a problem. in fact my spouse has changed her name after marriage and we found no problem with our application with CIC or local visa office. however u will have to have a valid passport showing new name.

I'm aware of that, but I'm worried because of the security clearance... you know, we bosnians can't eaven travel to any european country without visa, (although we are in Europe) :(

so please, can anyone tell me could the surname and forename change became a problem or, in any way, make my ''background clearance'' more complicated and suspicious?

I suggest if you can wait until you become a PR and try for name change in Canada once you are settled there.
