Hi,

I am applying for PR under the spousal family visa but I'm worried it's not going to come in time and I'll have to quit my job. I've been looking into the NAFTA visa and wondered if it's as "easy" as it seems?

Do they actually check your credentials(all of the school/previous work experience) or do you just need to show a job offer, $150, and a passport to the border?

Any experience at all would be much appreciated!

Not as simple as a job offer - yes, they will check your credentials. I believe there is also some additional info the hiring company needs to provide which is checked as well - and your company needs to be prepared to support this.

So I probably would have to bring a transcript from school and some letter of references from current/previous co-workers to support my background?

Also, with NAFTA, is it job specific(you have to work for the company offered to you the entire time in Canada) or is an open work permit(I could move around in jobs during my time in Canada)?

It's a closed work permit tied to that specific employer and that specific job. So no - certainly not possible to move around using that work permit.
