Hello everyone,

I have been in Canada, Quebec, for almost 9 months. I came to Canada in December with a Visitors Visa, or Temporary Resident, valuable for 6 months, then later in May I requested another 3 months, which i obtained. My Visa now expires on the 1st of September.

I found a job and was supposed to receive my work permit in June, so i was sure i didnt need to worry about my expiring Temporary REsident Visa, but the company who applies for me had some problems and had to re/apply meaning i will receive my Work Permit only in mid September.

My question is>

1. Do i HAVE to leave Canada until i havent received my Work permit?
2. If so, can i exit and re/enter from the USA?

Thanks for you help,
Neri

Why don't you apply for another extension, explain that your work permit is in process, etc.

IF you get your work permit before they start processing the TRV, you can withdraw your TRV application (and get the fee back). If you don't then you'll get the TRV. In either case you are covered by implied status, at least to the point where they refuse your TV (at which stage you'd have a departure order).

If you can enter into the US, of course you can leave while awaiting your work permit, but you may still need a TRV to get back to Canada.

Good luck!
