I just received my study permit today in Vancouver. I expected to graduate in 2025 (4 years bachelor's degree starting 2021).
However, my study permit only lasts 3 years and will expire in 2024. I try to explain to the officer, show my LOA and letter of introduction, visa which all end in 2025. But they refuse, saying that IRCC only approved me until 2024 so they cannot do anything. And if I want to continue my study then, I can apply for an extension.
Is this normal? I thought your study permit was supposed to be the length of your program.
And if I apply for an extension, how much money do I need to have to prove I'm financially stable. I got my visa by the normal way (proof of my parents' bank account), not by SDS.

Sure this is normal. Extend the permit when the time comes. You will need to prove that you are passing your courses and full-time.
