I had applied for a TRV and accordingly got my passport on 27th June 2015. But the visa printed on it says that the expiry is on 23rd December 2015 whereas my return from Canada is on the 3rd of January 2016, which is 10 days after the expiry of the printed visa. I am leaving for Canada on 15th August 2015.

Please help.

What should I do. I have mailed the high commission but no response till now.

The TRV has to be valid upon entry to Canada. If it expires during your trip has no effect on your stay.

Just to add on and to get a clearer picture, the visa category given to me is SX-1 as according to the online portal is was supposed to apply for the (TRV - student) visa and it is from 25th june 2015 to 23rd June 2015. I am not able to find a satisfactory source of this problem. Even the Canada immigration site does not talk about the TRV being only related to the entry in canada.

Please help me find some source.

1. I will try to make it simple.
2. With the TRV in your passport, you have to arrive in Canada before 23 Dec/15 that's all the TRV is for.
3. Once you arrive at the Port of Entry, an Immigration officer will then admit you to Canada, most are given 6 months. if you have a return ticket for 3rd of January, then you will be admitted to Canada to at least the 3rd of January.
