Hi All - Good Morning !! I got my fresh PR in the year 2010. I mean, the PR validity period started on Feb 2010 running for 5 years until Feb 2015. But, I had been outside the country (canada) until Feb 2013. I was in canada for just 2 days in the year 2010, to finish my landing formalities. So after that, I migrated to canada permanently only this Feb 2013. In the port of entry, on top of the date of entry seal (in my passport), the immigration officer did write in Pen saying "Absent since 2010". When I asked him, if it makes any significane, he said that......yes, you have been outside for a very very long time (three years) and so there are less chances of your PR getting renewed (when I go for it in the Feb 2015). Is this true ? Kindly advise.

Thank you so much.

What the officer meant to say is that your maximum of being outside Canada is 3 years and you already did that. If you had left again and ended up applying for a PR Card renewal with less than 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years, you would have a problem.

However, because of the clause about them only being able to look at the past 5 years when you apply, if you need a few more days, you should just let your PR card expire and not apply until you have 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years.
